For ESOP companies, employee ownership is more than a benefit. It is a business advantage that grows stronger when employees understand how ownership works, why it matters, and how they can contribute to the company’s success.
The ESOP Association created the Employee Ownership University (EOU) to help member companies build that understanding at scale. EOU transforms ESOP education from a series of isolated learning experiences into a structured, year-round professional development platform that supports stronger ownership culture, deeper engagement, and future leadership development.
Many organizations deliver ownership education through one-time events such as conference sessions, webinars, or committee training workshops. While valuable, these experiences alone are not enough to help employee-owners build knowledge, confidence, and expertise over time.
EOU addresses that challenge by combining on-demand learning, live online instruction, and in-person educational experiences into intentional learning roadmaps. The goal is simple: make high-quality employee ownership education more accessible, practical, and impactful for everyone in an employee-owned company.
New employee owners need to understand what ownership means. Committee members need tools to engage their peers. Leaders need strategies to strengthen ownership culture. Conference facilitators need the skills to communicate ownership concepts effectively. EOU provides structured learning experiences, recognized credentials, and practical tools participants can apply immediately within their organizations.
As EOU continues to expand, three new certificate programs will give employee owners, committee members, facilitators, and emerging leaders the tools they need to make a greater impact. Built around member feedback and the most common needs of ESOP companies, these offerings create a clear curriculum for participants at every stage of their employee ownership journey.
