Chapter Leaders Take to Capitol Hill to Promote ESOPs

The ESOP Association
SRCC Group on Capitol Hill

Recently, more than 60 volunteer leaders from TEA’s State and Regional Chapter Council (SRCC) journeyed to our nation’s capital for two days of strategic planning meetings at TEA headquarters in preparation for a busy 2023.

In addition to briefings from TEA staff, a discussion of the chapter expansion plans, and planning for chapter events, the highlight of the trip was time spent in the halls of Congress, as the SRCC teams visited more than 250 Senate and House offices in one morning! The Congressional visits were focused on thanking Members of Congress for voting for the end-of-year omnibus bill containing TEA’s top legislative priorities, welcoming new Members of Congress and introducing them to employee ownership, and preparing for TEA’s Advocacy Day in May at our National Conference.

After years of being closed to the public, most congressional offices the SRCC teams visited were very happy to welcome constituents and learn more about ESOPs and employee ownership. And even though the House was voting on several bills that day, some of our employee owners even got to meet their Congressmen and Senators in-person! Each Congressional office received educational materials containing TEA’s advocacy priorities and information about why ESOPs and employee ownership are core issues for their districts.

The SRCC’s Congressional visits were a huge success and helped to lay the groundwork for a very busy 2023. Hundreds of new contacts were made which will be invaluable as TEA continues to pursue an aggressive advocacy agenda to capitalize on  the momentum and successes of 2022. TEA sincerely thanks all the volunteer leaders from our State and Regional Chapter teams for their hard work and dedication to the Association. We look forward to building on their successes during TEA National Conference in May, when we will once again take to the Hill for a full day of meetings with our elected representatives.

Some TEA chapters have opportunities for chapter officers, especially our new or reconfigured chapters.  For more information on how to get involved, contact your Chapter Executive.
