Letters to the Editor

  1. Effective letters should be short, 250 words or less, and on-topic.
  2. The letter should reference the article to which you are responding in the first sentence, including the date of publication and author.
  3. Make your point but do not be overly critical.
  4. Letters to the editor should be written almost immediately.  Most letters are published within a day or two of the publication of the original article.  You may want to consider sending the letter by email to ensure that it gets to the media outlet quickly.
  5. Include your contact information, mailing address and phone number, so you can be reached if there are any questions.
