Carolyn Zimmerman Honored with Life Service Award

May 15, 2007 (Washington, DC) – Based on her unmatched commitment to employee ownership and her immense contributions to The ESOP Association, Carolyn F. Zimmerman has been awarded the Life Service Award by The ESOP Association, which is the Association’s highest honor.  The award was presented at the Association’s 30th Annual Conference in Washington, DC.  The ESOP Association is the national trade association for companies with employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and the leading voice on employee ownership in America.

Ms. Zimmerman, of Orange, Virginia, has been an active member of the Association since 1991 and has been actively involved with educating employee owners about the virtues of employee ownership for many years.  She leads the Association’s AACE (Annual Awards for Communications Excellence) program and chaired the Association’s Advisory Committee on Ownership Culture in the late 90s.  She presents frequently at national and Chapter meetings on the power of ownership.  She has served not only as an officer of the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Association but was also a member of the nine person Board of Directors of The ESOP Association for two years – 1999 to 2001.

“We are honoring Carolyn for her dedication, her unselfish devotion of her time, and her graceful leadership style in the many positions she has held in the Association’s governance structure,” said J. Michael Keeling, President of The ESOP Association.  “But her lasting legacy to the employee ownership community will be the AACE Program, which I believe has done more than any other program in ESOP history to awaken ESOP companies to the power of nurturing an ownership culture.  Carolyn’s work to enhance the AACE program has made the difference.”

Founded in 1978, The ESOP Association represents over 1,400 ESOP companies who believe that employee ownership will improve American competitiveness, increase productivity through greater employee participation and strengthen our free enterprise economy.
