May 15, 2007 (Washington, DC) – Jeffrey York of A.D. Marble & Company, Inc. of Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, has been named the 2007 Employee Owner of the Year by The ESOP Association at the Association’s 30th Annual Conference in Washington, DC. The ESOP Association is the national trade association for companies with employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs) and the leading voice in America for employee ownership.
Mr. York has been instrumental in spearheading efforts to spread the ESOP word, educate employee owners, develop a healthy ESOP culture, and increase the ESOP related activities of A.D. Marble & Company. He goes above and beyond to make the company a success. Recognizing the company lacked a way to share information, he created the company’s first internal newswire alert that includes an ESOP section in each issue, which is written by Mr. York, to share information on the latest ESOP Committee news and educate employee owners on the ESOP concept. He chairs the company’s ESOP Committee and has taken on the task of creating a Mission Statement, as well as, the Committee’s Rules of Operations. He organizes and manages events during Employee Ownership Month, which is celebrated each October, and the company celebrates with several different events throughout the month. One of Mr. York’s most creative ideas is “Ask Eddie” which is a question and answer email column he distributes to all employee owners on a weekly basis. He also solicits questions daily through email and every question is answered by “Eddie the ESOP Educator” in an entertaining and educating way. He has been instrumental in launching the ESOP Brown Bag Seminar where topics include How to Interpret Your ESOP Statement and How Your Money Grows.
“Jeffrey York embodies the personal power and energy that can make an ESOP company great,” said J. Michael Keeling, President of The ESOP Association. “He has helped significantly in creating the culture at A.D. Marble & Company that recognizes the employees and each individual’s potential.”
Founded in 1978, The ESOP Association represents over 1,400 ESOP companies who believe that employee ownership will improve American competitiveness, increase productivity through greater employee participation and strengthen our free enterprise economy.
